Thank. You. All.

It's that time of the year when the realization of life hits you and you become aware of the fact that you are very thankful towards the people around you.
Well, I am.
And today it is towards one person. My role-model and the best journalist South Africa has to offer, Debora Patta. And yes, I am dedicating this blog too her wether she knows it or not. Likes it or not. :)

Debora Patta is someone I thought I'd only meet about five or so years well into my Journalism career, but hey, I was wrong! I'm not going to go on and on about what a total inspiration she is, but if she ever has to see this then I'd like her to know how grateful I am. I've had reason to believe in my life that my writing was a mess and was just a hindrance to read, but she gave me faith again. Thank you.

And with Debora came my meeting some wonderful people such as the various reporters of eNEWS. I have to make mention of Troy Martens, Belinda Moses and Robyn Kriel. You all have been so accommodating of me and so supportive in my work taking into consideration that we have either not met or that we just know one another for a brief time period.

And, I'd just like to thank my other amazing friends, too. Abigail for always listening to me. Debby Edelstein and our random Twitter meeting which turned out to have formed a lovel friendship and ALL of my online friends. Love you all. <3

Okay. Enough with that.  I need your help.
Question:
What are your favorite websites or blogs to visit?

I need to do a short blurb on a good one for possible publication.

Ciao

Italia All The Way

Wow, when last had I blogged? Some of you may or may not remember me from the blog, PieFTW or even my Twitter page @mishgovender. Well, I'll forgive you if you do not. :)

Any who, if you are unaware already then where have you been, but South Africa is the host of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. So far the event has been amazing and the vibe in this country is indescribable! I'm a bit disappointed that as a South African I am walking around with a lovely Italian support t-shirt from WOOLWORTHS. I know, how patriotic is that, but I've had a deep love for both Italy and Japan since forever and decided to root for them - South Africa, too.

Who are you rooting for?

Viva South Africa!

Today marked the FIRST day that I have EVER sat down to watch an entire 90-minute soccer match and may I state. . . It was AMAZING!

I have never been an avid soccer fanatic and most probably never will be, but with South Africa playing host to the World's most watched event how can one NOT go about their day with a blind eye to the nation's most loved event! Feel it. It IS here! Viva South Africa. It is our time to shine.

Sadly, tragedy intervened when Nelson Mandela's great-granddaughter passed away this morning when she was in a car accident. May her soul Rest In Peace. 13 years old is a terrible age to have a life lost.

Pulling focus back on today's match, South Africa vs. Mexico. We saw it ending in a draw. SA scored the first goal of the event. What an epic moment for our country.

I am awaiting for the 2nd match tonight, hence a short post for my new blog, but check my minute-by-minute updates via my twitter page @mishgovender. I am still laughing over the dung beetle from the opening ceremony becoming a trending topic. Represent!

South Africa, do us proud.
